You need more than talent to be successful

If you want something, you gotta pay the price for it (and it’s not just about money…)

For instance, Elon Musk, who sometimes worked up to 22 hours in a day…

Many people have put a lot, a lot of effort into learning, trying to achieve the ability of making videogames, but in most cases the results are not as expected… not only a great amount of effort ensures that you reach your goals in life…

Someday I decided to watch one of Jon’s webinars called “Your first line of code”. Initially it didn’t catch my attention because I thought it was too basic for me, you know, around 2 years learning Unity by tutorials and courses, almost a systems engineer… Come on, that’s piece of cake for me..

But as on other occasions, life teaches me to lower my head and be humble…

After some minutes of watching the webinar, Jon was explaining the GetComponent method in Unity, nothing rare for me…

But wait: he is explaining the process in the code and in the editor… Wait, when I’m calling the method in the code, I am accessing a part of the game object in the editor? What? This is new for me! I mean, I’ve written that piece of code so many times, but I didn’t realize exactly how it works … until now, it was like to put the last missing piece of a big puzzle…

After that, I was aware of Jon’s words when talking about his course: learn how to develop games confidently…

During the webinar, I wrote in the chat: hey! We gotta work hard to make it happen, and somebody wrote: but that is not enough. And after thinking about that for a while, I wrote: yes, I agree, you’re right.

There is a netflix movie that inspired me so much: “The boy who harnessed the wind”. It shows us how far a human being can go with his intelligence, his skills and the people, or in this case, the tools to develop them: some books and a dynamo, among others, apart from a great amount of courage and determination…

In life may it happen that somebody has the skills, the intelligence, the abilities to be an outstanding person, but that person still needs somebody who helps him to develop those abilities.

I’m just starting the course, it has been a bit hard for me to begin, it took me 3 days to write this blog, but I have a very good feeling about it, I feel that with our effort and with the help of Jon, Al and all the fellows we’ve got in the community, we can finish this course and have a great amount of confidence after finishing it for saying to any person or company: Here I am, a very well prepared Unity developer with the skills, abilities, intelligence and attitude required by your company to be even more successful…
