3D environment and lighting — basics

When creating an environment, usually its geometry is created by a 3D artist with an external 3D modeling program

When importing those geometry objects to Unity, it creates a Mesh Filter and a Mesh Renderer for each one.

Mesh Filter gives the shape (for example, cube, capsule, etc.). It will be rendered by the Mesh Renderer.

Mesh renderer contains options such as:
- Materials
- Lighting
- Probes

Each material has some components that give the object different qualities, like Albedo (color) and the box at left (texture).

Albedo uses a color model like RGB and an Alpha channel for transparency.
